 ABOUT THE ARTIST
Originally from Rochester, NY, I am a professional
artist/designer based in Columbia, SC.
Fine Art Roots
I graduated from the State University
of New York with a BA degree and relocated to Columbia to earn my Master
of Fine Arts degree at the University of South Carolina. There I taught drawing,
printmaking and graphic design courses for several years, plus art history classes
at Newberry College.
Commercial Roots
Not
long after completing my MFA, I became interested in commercial art. I took a
job as an artist at a small advertising agency where I began to learn the trade.
I later joined the graphics department at a large software company to further
develop my skills as a graphic designer. Eventually I left that position to accompany
my husband on a six-month trip around the world while he was on a teaching sabbatical
from the University of South Carolina. We visited 18 different countries, although
most of our time was spent in the Far East. Upon our return, I was ready to establish
my own company. I went into business as a freelance graphic designer.
Digital Roots
Six years later I was introduced to my first
personal computer — a Mac Plus. It was "love
at first byte." The year was 1988. That little computer became my primary
studio tool. My profits doubled that first year and I loved every minute spent
of it. In 1996, I discovered the power of the Internet and taught myself
HTML. I began building web sites. Two years later I changed my company's
name (Adcon, Inc.) to Ginnie.com, Inc., to better reflect my professional focus.
Clients have included BMW, NationsBank, BlueCross BlueShield of SC, PBS, BellSouth,
USC School of Medicine and others.
Digital
Art
Over the past decade I've specialized in creating complex photomontage
images for both print- and web-based commercial clients. I've also developed
a keen interest in photography and digital printmaking, which I have been actively
pursuing for several years.
Recent breakthroughs in digital print technology have enabled artists
and photographers such as myself to achieve outstanding print quality with maximum
archival longevity (100+ years) right in our own studios. For me, that's a dream
come true.
Fine Art Prints
The photographic
prints on this web site represent a joyous return to my "fine
art" roots. I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I've enjoyed creating
them.
